THE discovery of an 1980s-era Monopoly-style board game based on Parramatta has inspired an updated version of the game to highlight the city’s heritage.

A RARE, historical Parramatta board game that resembles Monopoly will be up for grabs this Sunday when it’s raffled off.

The unopened Monopoly-inspired collectors item was found online by the North Parramatta Resident Action Group, in the hope it would highlight the town’s historical significance.

“The 1983 Monopoly-style boardgame, This is Your Town Parramatta, features local businesses of the time, and is a real throwback to Parramatta in the early ’80s,” said group president Suzette Meade.

“It’s a very basic design but, along with local shops on the board, it features some of our well known heritage buildings like Parramatta Town Hall, Hambledon Cottage, The Roxy and Old Government House.”
